You can turn on or turn off Num Lock in the Basic Input Output system (BIOS).Follow the steps below to set the Num Lock options from the BIOS. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk. I assume F10 is the key to be tapped in HP laptops to enter the Boot Menu or you can see towards the top right of the screen to select the key and enter the Boot menu. We have tried changing the Num Lock settings from our lab machine which is a DELL computer and I will put down the steps for the same. You can check for similar options in your computer and see if you can turn off the Num Lock from BIOS. 1) Tap F12 to enter the Boot Menu 2) Under the Boot Device Menu select System Setup 3) In the left side of the screen expand the category POST Behavior 4) Look for Num Lock Key option 5) Hit Enter and make changes to Turn off or Turn on the Num Lock 6) Exit and reboot the computer.
