Ну, в общем есть небольшой пргресс. После очередной попытки уствновки дров, появились /dev/nvidia0, и /dev/nvidiactl.... но система по прежнему отказывается загружаться....

А по поводу опций ядра - нужно смотреть, разбираться, что у Вас в нем прописано.

Ничего такого, чтобы могло повредить запуску иксов в Вашем конфиге я не нашел.
А дла оптимизации могу посоветовать убрать из ядра следующее:

Если Ваша машина не в локальной unix-сети, можете смело убрать NFS.
